Learning Objectives
Define and identify examples for compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and secondary trauma
Recognize when self or others struggle with compassion fatigue
Practice proactive strategies to support resilience and sustainability
Articulate why prevention of compassion fatigue is a critical part of our work and life
Use a lens of Cultural Humility
Recognize and take appropriate action on behalf of colleagues and self by responding to challenging situations with a range of techniques and strategies to mitigate the effects

Meet Your Trainers
Beverly Kyer
Beverly Kyer, MSW, CSW, ACSW is a Speaker, Educator, Consultant, Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist and Author who has devoted 16 years to training Human Service Providers and Family Caregivers; helping them employ self-care recovery and neuro-physiological regulation strategies. By understanding the risk factors and prioritizing techniques, they can re-bound and remain effective and available to help those impacted by traumatic life experiences and At-Risk populations. Beverly’s training and coaching provides engaging, applicable and practical tools for sustainability and wellness.
Ellen Morrison
Ellen Morrison, LCSW is a skilled facilitator with extensive experience working across diverse groups in educational, clinical, organizational and social service settings. Her trauma informed and relational approach contributes to prioritizing the integration of restorative practices including popular education pedagogy to develop curriculum and facilitate experiential learning. She is also a Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist.
Thu Banh Perry
Thu Banh Perry, founder & principal of Ascension Community Development LLC, is a trauma-informed community development & organizational development specialist with 20+ years of experience in community engagement & participatory planning, meeting/ training design & facilitation, nonprofit management, affordable housing, & communications.
She is also a certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist and Restorative Justice Circle Keeper.
